As part of a growing legislative mandate for patient safety, healthcare providers are required to use at least two patient identifiers whenever taking blood samples or administering medications and blood products. An additional FDA rule requires barcodes on most prescriptions when dispensing drugs. To maintain compliance with these Positive Patient Identification regulations, a prominent healthcare provider needed to replace its legacy plastic card embossing and imprinting systems with a technology-based barcoding system.
The solution
Engaging DCM, the healthcare provider updated their legacy embossing system using our mobile technology and data capturing solutions, enabling them to produce labels and wristbands with or without barcodes quickly, easily, and economically. Their small footprint enables the provider to print anywhere-nursing stations, patient registration areas, labs, X-ray clinics, and surgery.
